Pad Kra Tiem is a Thai stir-fried meat dish consisting of boneless chicken breast seasoned with fried garlic, black pepper, cornstarch, and various seasoning sauces such as sweet soy sauce and oyster sauce that is best to serve with white rice.
500gramsof chickenboneless chicken breast, chopped into 2-inch pieces
8clovesof garlicchopped
1.5tablespoonsof sweet soy sauce
1tablespoonof oyster sauce
1tablespoonof dark soy sauce
1tablespoonof cornstarch
2teaspoonsof black pepper
3tablespoonsof vegetable canola oil
Instructions
To marinate the chicken, combine the chopped chicken breast with cornstarch, soy sauce, and black pepper. Stir to mix gently and then set it aside. To start cooking, add vegetable canola oil in the pan over medium-low heat.
Once the oil becomes hot, add the chopped garlic and stir gently until it turns light brown. Reserve a teaspoon of this fried garlic and set it aside.
Next, add the marinated chopped boneless chicken breast and give it a quick stir before adding the black pepper. Mix to stir gently.
Lastly, add the oyster sauce and sweet soy sauce, gently mixing them with the chicken. Let it cook for a few minutes before turning off the heat.
Serve it on a plate and top it with the remaining fried garlic for garnish. This is best to eat with white rice or any fried rice.
Notes
SUBSTITUTION SUGGESTION: You can use potato starch or all purpose flour instead of cornstarch. You can also substitute black pepper with white pepper.
To make it spicy, you can add 1 teaspoon of red chili flakes
